We have another photo station in the churchyard
It was our original idea to have photo stations in both Besselsleigh Woods and Appleton St Laurence churchyard, but this one proved rather trickier to put in place. Firstly it had to be approved by the Parochial Church Council, and we thought there would be some opposition here, as there were some recent memorials in the area that we wanted to photograph and there was the thought that releatives of the deceased might not like it.
We were really pleased then, that the idea was approved by the PCC at their meeting, possibly having seen the idea demonstrated by the stations set up in
the woods. We thought we were all set, but no - apparantly we had to get formal approval from the Archdeacon before we could do anything in the churchyard,
and we had to make an application to him, detailing what we wanted to do, exactly where we wanted to do it, and why.
So a case was duly drafted and sent off, and yay! we got approval.
So on the first opportunity when it wasn't raining, the team got together and excavated a hole and set the post in it. Special mention needs to be made of Ros and Jerry's neighbour Chris, who is really helpful in making photo station posts, and lending really useful tools for digging a neat vertical hole.
We hope this latest station can monitor the blooming of the wild flowers that are being encouraged in this part of the churchyard by the churchyard restoration project, one of Green Appleton's first projects. So please, if you're going past, pause and take a picture, and load it up onto the website. Thanks!
