Our Latest Event

The weather was windy but dry and pretty warm. We had the following stands:
Green Appleton
Repair Stall
Wild Oxfordshire
Oxfordshire Mammals
Craft stall
Too good to chuck
Seed planting
Eliza with her Nature Trail
Bee and bug hotels
Book Stall
Teas, coffee, biscuits and flapjacks
And there was also a Green Windmill event happening around the village
Big Spring Morning
We were surprised and delighted that people came to the event. The children enjoyed the nature trail, the craft stall and I saw children planting seeds and carrying pots with plants in. Mums, Dads, Grandparents spent time looking at our stalls and lots of interesting conversations were held. We were particularly pleased with the reactions to iNaturalist and our Time-Lapse project. The repair table had a fairly quiet time, although there was quite a lot of excitement over the repair of a wind up radio! This will need more thought before the next one. We decided not to charge for teas and coffees, repairs etc. but instead we would ask for donations. People were generous, and we got enough to easily cover our costs.
Big Spring Morning
After the event, some of us retired to the Plough to have a wonderful lunch that Rob and Will had put together using local produce. They were very keen to support the event and would be very happy to do so again in future. We hope this will be an annual event and Green Appleton would like to say a huge thank you to all who attended, who were so generous with their donations and to all those who volunteered to help on the day. The event couldn't have happened without the following:
